DANIELLE FISHEL VS SHAY MITCHELL
(Foxfire Boxing vs Pretty Little Punchers Inc.)
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Before: “I have always admired Dani Fishel,” Shay Mitchell sweetly tells the pre-fight press conference, “and I can’t tell you what a honor it is to be fighting her. I just hope I will prove worthy of the opportunity.”

“Hey, Shay, you don’t have to butter me up, I promise not to hurt you—too much!” The impish Dani F calls out.

Shay smiles good naturedly: “I’m not buttering you up, Dani, it’s how I feel. I also promise not to hurt you—too much.”

Dani and the reporters chuckle. Good spirits could be masking some underlying tension between the fighters. Some in press noticed that both Dani and Shay have expressed interest in JMD fighting. No surprise for Fishel, who has a long history of putting her boobs on the line, but does relative newcomer Shay know what she’s getting herself into? Will this fight be a chance for each to show the other what they’ve got JMD-wise? Both Foxfire and PLP sources deny any such attention, but interest amongst JMD-fans is running high on social media and may sell some extra tickets to the PPV so fed is not entirely discouraging the thought.

Dani Fishel comes to the ring looking proudly curvy in a hot red halter-top bikini with full-coverage bottoms. Both tops and bottoms well-filled and Dani’s not shy at wiggling both to rev up the crowd. Shay not quite that interactive with the crows, but she does appear in a dazzling white bikini that shows off nicely against her olive skin.  Shay looks like a pageant queen waving to crowd and smiling graciously as she goes to the ring. Red gloves for Dani Fishel. White gloves for Shay. Both have their hair in battle braids. Ring instructions go smoothly and a quick touch of the gloves, then  both fighters go to their corners to await the bell. The bell rings.

R1: Dani advances on Shay true to her nickname “The Tank: she comes rolling in and subjects young Shay to a high pressure beatdown. Shay looking swamped at first, gets her initial jabs brushed aside as Dani clouts her chin, jaw and both cheeks (a straight right to the forehead gives a certain symmetry to the punch cycle). Shay backing up in confusion can’t seem to get her act together as Dani has a find time methodical circling and punching. Shay finally starts showing signs of getting into this fight when she is able to duck under a Dani right and drive a  right-handed-shot into Fishel’s belly, then bring a left to smash Dani across the mouth. Dani looks a bit chagrinned but hunkers down to counterattack. Shay’s jab working better now carving up Dani’s face slowing the Fishel advance. Dani still takes the round.

R2: Shay showing more fight this round. She’s not taken by surprise when Dani comes moving in behind a battering ram right/left series. Shay really moving her upper body to blunt this attack and the strike back hard with her jab. Dani getting sliced up around the eyes and takes another shot on the mouth, but she has some success just forcing herself in to strike at Shay’s face with overhand rights and lefts. Shay bleeding from a swelling lump on her left eyebrow, but she tries to hang in against Dani as long as she can. A head-swiveling clout on the jaw finally makes Shay duck back and Dani keeps her moving backwards. Shay shows decent skill in fighting backing up, but it’s not enough to avert Dani taking the round by a close margin.

R3: Shay battles Dani right from the start, moving quickly to intercept Fishel as she comes at her. The two churning away at each other, Shay sliding shot up into Dani’s chin and hurling in overhand smashes to Dani’s jaw. Fishel pounding away at Shay’s body. Shay forced to swing away from the aggressive Foxfire veteran, but she is able to lick Dani’s head with a strong right blockbuster and slow Dani’s pursuit. Shay then able to stand and deliver some powerful shots to Dani’s face, opening a hairline cut that has blood trickling down the side of her face. Dani circling as Shay circles her, probing licks spitting out during this relative lull. Only last a few moments, then Dani suddenly launches a FULL SCALE RACK ATTACK ON SHAY. Shay titties are mashed, uppercut and swept from side to side. Shay looks shocked, but accepts the challenge instantly going after the legendary Fishel melons with straight lefts and rights to crush them in their cups. THE CROWD GOES WILD. Shay’s ferocity seems to surprise Dani, she steps back and tries to jab Shay back. Shay goes uppercut into Dani’s breasts until Dani smashes back against her tits. Wild, wild, JMD action ending only at the bell. Both fighters stand there panting, feeling the ache in their chests and then quietly going to their corners. Takes a while, but Shay turns out to have edged Dani out in points by a close total.

R4: If crowd was expecting more JMD action they are disappointed as boxing resumes with Shay now looking very comfortable dueling with Dani at midring. Dani seems to be slowing down and Shay is much more mobile. Shay able to catch Dani again and again with unexpected shots to the head and body, then slip away from Fishel counters. Dani looking like cornered lioness lashing out with the jab to make her tormentress pay for her aggression. Shay left eyebrow bleeding again, but she keeps on Dani hard to the bell and takes the round by a wide margin.

R5: Dani under pressure from Shay responds with a fierce, relentless attack of her own. Shay takes a smashing left and follow-up right to either side of her head. Shay clearly has her bell run by this double strike and Dani not about to give her the chance to recover. Shay gets her face in her gloves, but she is herded to the ropes where Dani just roasts her sides and skull with punch after punch. Shay leaning into the ropes for support, finally resorts to clinching to try to halt the onslaught, but Dani quickly forces her back on the ropes for more shelling. Bell rings and as Dani steps back, Shay is hung up on the ropes and looking over at the veteran with wondering eyes. Poker face from Dani as she turns and goes back to her corner, but she does glance back to see proud Shay brush off the referee attempt to help and walk back to her stool on her own trembling legs.

R6: Hard work by the PLP corner crew gets Shay patched up during the break, but Dani Fishel comes in ready to inflict more damage/ However Shay has recovered her mobility and she’s not the easy target she was in the 5th. Then Shay begins firing back as Dani starts lunging after her and starts scoring to Dani’s head. Dani starts slowing and Shay gets aggressive pushing in Dani’s sluggish defense to batter the Fishel jaw and chin. Dani seems to ignore these shots, but then Shay steps to one side and just BURIES a right hook into the pit of Dani’s belly. Dani’s knees give a shake and Shay repeats the blow, but adds a smashing left hook to the jaw.  DANI FISHEL GOES DOWN! Dani just crashes forward on her face. Shay stands there looking astonished and has to be pushed away by referee. Dani already on her hands and knees as the count starts, but takes a full 8 before rising. Dani tries to get aggressive once fight resumes, but Shay stays out of the way and keeps Dani’s head ringing with steady licks to the bell.  Dani looks confused and Shay has to turn her towards the proper corner, then watches worriedly as Dani makes her way slowly back to her corner.

R7: “What is she hurt?” Shay heard to ask her trainer Nia Peeples. “She probably is but that is for her trainer and the referee—I want you to concentrate on ending this. Dani would never forgive you if she thought you’d gone easy on her—get out and finish her as fast as you can.” Dani comes lumbering off her stool. Observers gasp, she looks to be going on sheer will power. Shay has a grim expression as she circles Dani, sizing her up and then striking straight ahead with shots to the midsection as Dani’s jab paws at her uselessly. Then Shay dips low, her right down around her ankles and then shooting up to connect with Dani’s jaw. Dani lifted up and crashes down in a seated position, then she swoons backwards, arms over her head and legs spread out. Count that follows is a formality as Dani can only raise her head and look around blankly as the count reaches “…TEN!”
The Winner”: Shay Mitchell KO7

After: Shay clearly wants to rush over and check on the fallen Dani, but referee holds her back as Virginia Madsen and her team go to their fighter’s aid. Dani brought around by smelling salts and helped to stool. Shay finally allowed to cross ring to check on Dani and Dani gives her a reassuring hug.

“’l’ll be fine kid, you just keep developing that punch and you’ll be winning plenty more fights,” Dani says.

“Dani is still such a great fighter,” Shay tells the press, trying to hold back the tears, “and such a great credit to the sport. I beat her down and she congratulates me! How classy is that? Oh, that JMD episode? No, of course it wasn’t planned, it just happened and I think showed I can handle having my boobs punched and punch right back.  I’ll see how much of it I can fit in as the year goes on, but I definitely want to do more.”

Dani Fishel showing her usual amazing recuperative powers is soon talking to the press: “I lost that’s the plain fact of it and I am sure my critics will see it as one more reason for me to retire, Trouble is, I think I can fight competitively, though maybe it’s time I re-thought my whole ‘pressure fighter’ approach. It worked for a long time, but maybe I need to work on something a little more defensive. Now all of this shouldn’t take away from Shay Mitchell, she is talented fighter with power, mobility and she just needs to have her skills sharpened. JMD? That that unplanned, but I think Shay showed she could do it if she chooses and I know I choose to do it.”

Tough slugfest while it lasted. Dani may have a point about needing to change her “come forward” approach. She may be getting to the point she’s accepting more damage than she should. As for Shay Mitchell, this is a win she definitely needed and should help give her credibility in the bantamweight division.
