FEBRUARY FISTICUFFS AT THE ASYLUM

BEFORE:

"I know everyone thinks I can't fight and that I only get work because I'm hot," Samia says with a lovely smile. "Well, I suspect that's what Beckham thought, too. Until I knocked her out."

"I don't care what her record is," says Jane with shake of the head. "I've had one FCBA fight. I'm not in a position to take anyone lightly, and I'm not about to."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's 'Hideaway' by Kiesza..."

McCarthy: "Why would a girl from Beever's Babes be using a Kesha song, especially in an Asylum fight..."

O'Dell: "Not..."

McCarthy: "Then again, why would ANYone use a Kesha song. The only thing worse than Kesha's work in the ring is her MUSIC..."

O'Dell: "It's not..."

McCarthy: "Of course, she's no worse than that tramp Perry. I STILL can't BELIEVE they had her on the Super Bowl
halftime show..."

O'Dell: "Again, it's not..."

McCarthy: "And Pink and Lavigne! They're just as bad. The only one around here who can sing a little bit is Britney..."

O'Dell: "A-HEM! It's not KESHA, it's KIESZA, and the song is one of the favorites of the girl coming down to the ring, the lovely Samia Ghadie of Beever's Babes..."

McCarthy: "Who, of course, is a typical Dancing Hooker opponent, ONE FCBA win..."

O'Dell: "Ghadie into the ring and helped off with the robe to reveal a white bikini

Tess: "And a ROCKING body to go with it..."

O'Dell: "And that's 'Pleasant Nightmare' by Alih Jey, and here comes the 'Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy..."

McCarthy: "Who ALSO has ONE FCBA win..."

Tess: "To be fair, Mac, she only has one FCBA fight..."

McCarthy: "Doesn't matter! The Greatest Fighting Playmate of All Time shouldn't be doing color for a fight between girls with a combined TWO wins! It's beneath me..."

Cassie: "And you're not used to things being beneath you. Usually, they're ON TOP of you..."

McCarthy: "YOU LITTLE..."

Tess: "Now, calm down, Mac..."

McCarthy: "SHUT IT, WALMART!"

O'Dell: "Drink up, boys, and then watch as Levy climbs into the ring and is helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that peach number she wore in her debut. The ladies are about ready. Time to get some picks. Tess favors Levy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Six of one and two dozen of another..."

Tess: "What does that even MEAN?"

McCarthy: "Buy a dictionary, Walmart..."

O'Dell(sighing): "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "There's the bell and Levy wants to make with the pressure immediately. Jane doesn't have a lot of rounds on video, obviously, as this is only her second fight, but she's shown that she likes the pressure style..."

Tess: "It suits her. She's got the power for it."

O'Dell: "And she shows a bit of that early, backing Samia up with a good right hand. Ghadie wants some space here, but Jane not having any of that. She's right up in the Brit's grill, backing her up, working the body."

Cassie: "Jane has shown she likes to go body. No surprise coming from a gym that employs Britney, Neve Campbell, and Allison Mack, among others."

O'Dell: "Jane spending more time on the body as the round goes on. Samia being forced into long engagements, and that's not really what she wants. She's holding her own, though, banging back, even digging a little body as the final seconds tick away. Levy THUMPING the ribs at the bell. First one in the books, and Levy has it."

McCarthy: "10-9 for a one-win fighter after one."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with Samia on her bicycle now. The Brit wants to stick and move rather than stand in there and thump with the Front Streeter. Jane working the feet, looking to cut and close, managing to do some of it, and, when she does, she gets to work downstairs."

Tess: "Mac, this is pretty uncommon, isn't it? A fighter this early in her career committing to body?"

McCarthy: "Most younger fighters head hunt way too much, no question. Levy's showing good balance and she definitely seems to be investing downstairs."

O'Dell: "Samia, on the other hand, showing some of what we've seen from her on the boxing front. She has good, quick hands and knows how to put punches together. She's accurate, and she's picking Levy off some as Jane tries to close..."

Cassie: "As you know, I was in the ring with Ghadie...briefly. And I can testify that she's plenty accurate."

Tess: "She seemed to have trouble hitting YOU..."

Cassie: "EVERYone has trouble hitting ME."

O'Dell: "Samia getting some punches home against Levy, however, and, again, Jane getting plenty of her own work done. Good two-way round as Ghadie able to get space with the movement in this stanza. Good trade right there! Both women landed clean shots and there's the bell. Close. Ghadie, I think."

McCarthy: "And that means it's 19-19 and both fighters have won as many rounds tonight as they have FCBA fights."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third round begins with more movement from Samia. Ghadie circling and snapping a jab out. No dancing like you might see from my colleague here, just good, solid footwork and smooth movement that's keeping Levy turning..."

McCarthy: "I'm retired. I don't dance in the ring anymore..."

O'Dell: "I was referring to Cassie..."

McCarthy: "I can out-dance Scabbo any day of the week!"

O'Dell: "Perhaps we'll get you two on 'Dancing With The Stars' sometime. Meanwhile, let's concentrate on the fight. Levy cutting the ring at times, showing good feet of her own, no surprise for a former college soccer player. When she does, the heavy shell begins being exchanged, and the redhead is getting the best of those exchanges..."

Cassie: "No question Jane's the harder hitter, but Samia using her boxing skill and experience very well to counter that."

O'Dell: "Final thirty seconds of the third. Ghadie in open canvas, popping the jab, double-tapping it, setting up good rights. Levy stepping to, landing a good flurry, before Samia circles away. Five seconds left, solid jab for Ghadie and that's the bell. Another close round for Samia."

Tess: "And the Brit now has the lead 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins with more legwork from Samia. Ghadie finding a rhythm as this fight goes on. She's creating terms that work for her and doing a good job of avoiding situations that don't work in her favor."

Tess: "That's what all sporting contests are about when you think about it. Creating situations that are advantageous for you and disadvantageous for your opponent. Get ahead in the count. Get in front of the chains."

O'Dell: "Ghadie may be slightly in front of the chains, but only slightly. Because, despite her successful efforts to create and stay in space, Jane's using her own quick feet and athleticism to cut the ring at times and force exchanges."

Cassie: "And this is where Levy has the advantage with those heavier hands. Look down the Front Street roster, and you'll see why Jane fits in very well. Wiz likes girls who can HIT."

O'Dell: "No question Jane fits the bill. She's been consistently backing Ghadie up the entire fight, but Samia's doing well enough at avoiding those heavy trades that she's about to win her third round in a row. There's the bell, and, again, it's close, but, again, it's Samia."

McCarthy: "And Ghadie now leads 39-37 after four."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "We start the fifth on the same terms we've seen since the end of the first. Ghadie all about the movement, slick footwork and boxing. Limiting the exchanges, getting off first, landing accurate stuff as Levy tries to close."

McCarthy: "I've said this before. The key to winning fights between fairly evenly-matched opponents is getting the close rounds. Ghadie's gotten three straight close ones, and those points might be very big at the end of the fight."

O'Dell: "And, right now, Ghadie's gotten to a place where she wants to be. She's found something that's working, and the question becomes, can Levy, a girl in her second career fight, find a way to adjust..."

Cassie: "RIGHT HAND, LEVY!"

O'Dell: "And that adjusted something, Samia's balance! Ghadie ROCKED, wobbles backward and Levy going after her in a big way. The redhead letting the hands go, banging away at the head and body, backing Samia into the ropes and THUMPING her..."

Cassie: "This is trouble for Samia! She does not want to be standing in front of Jane taking."

O'Dell: "And that's exactly what's happening. Levy landing hard shot with both hands. Ghadie in a high guard, jabbing back in spots, but mostly getting scuffed up by crisp, accurate leather from Jane. Levy looking to finish, but Samia hanging on as the clock ticks down. Five seconds. Two. One. It's over. Wide to Levy after the big right hand."

Tess: "48-47 for Samia at the midway point."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth round action and Levy on the attack now, testing Ghadie to see if she's got the legs back, and it would appear she does not. Jane pressuring, squaring Samia up, and backing her up with heavy punches. Ghadie trying to bang back, hold canvas, but she can't do it."

McCarthy: "Samia needs to slow this pace, clinch, do something to slow down Jane's offense, because Levy's got the range."

O'Dell: "And she's getting all the guns on a fairly stationary target. Ghadie game, firing back with both hands, trying to slow Jane down, but Levy steadily forward, walking Samia down and beating her up."

Tess: "She's working a lot less body now. Still going there, but she's taking full advantage of this opportunity and looking to finish."

O'Dell: "That, she is, but Ghadie not having any. Samia resolute. She's making Levy fight hard for every scrap of canvas. But Jane more than willing to do that, and she's got Samia pinned to the ropes and NOW Levy goes body in a BIG way! She's PUNISHING that midsection, hooking the ribs, looking to get that guard down. Ghadie tying up. Jane punching free, lands a NASTY left hook at the bell Give Ghadie credit. She's still standing. But that was a shutout round for Levy."

Cassie: "And our cards now show this fight even at 57."

ROUND SEVEN:

O'Dell: "Levy begins the seventh on a seek and destroy mission. She's after Samia, who's trying to jab for space, trying to get back to using those legs, but they're not all the way back and Levy is easily running her to ground."

Cassie: "Jane not going all in, staying very sound here. This is good stuff from a girl in her second fight. She's working the feet, getting square, setting up her punches."

O'Dell: "GOOD right hand there from Levy. Samia felt that one and she covers up immediately. Jane to the body now, working that midsection and then BLASTING SAMIA WITH A LEFT! Ghadie staggered and DOWN SHE GOES! Straight right hand from Jane and Ghadie blown to her back..."

McCarthy: "Turn out the lights...."

O'Dell: "Count at three. Four. Five. Ghadie's head lolling back and forth. Seven. Eight. Nine. TEN! It's over! And your winner by KO7 is 'The Marin County Marauder', Jane Levy!"

Tess: "Check the replay on that right hand and you'll see why Ghadie is still down. Here's the good left hook that wobbles Samia and BOOM! Short right on the button. Ghadie's head swivels and this thing is over.

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Jane Levy, and, Jane, you were clearly all about finishing once you got her hurt in the fifth."

Jane: "She can box and she can score points. I wasn't trying to get this thing to the cards. My whole plan was to get her out of there, and, when I had the chance, I was going to do it."

Tess: "Two for two. Not a bad start to a career."

Jane: "I didn't come here to be average. I signed here because this is one of the stables that develops girls. I came here to be a contender and to be a champion. This is a place where girls can do that, as Katy proved. This is a place where I can do that, and I will."
