LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN AT THE ASYLUM

BEFORE:

"All the Bazz girls talk about how great it is to fight here at Asylum in our home town," says Shailene with a gorgeous smile. "I've heard about it since I came here, so I'm very excited about having my first chance to do it."

"I like Shailene," says Leven with a smile. "We get along really well, and she's going to be a star in the FCBA. But, so am I. The two of us might just be friendly rivals for a long time, so I might as well start off bt grabbing bragging rights immediately."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that is Offenbach's 'Orpheus In The Underworld', and here comes Bazz's latest addition, Shailene Woodley!"

Cassie: "And Leven's right about Shailene. She's going to be a big star in the FCBA. She's got size, athleticism, and a load of talent. She might stay here at bantam or move up to light at some point, but, at one or both weights, she's a future champion."

O'Dell: "Shailene into the ring and helped off with the robe by the Bazz corner crew to reveal a sky blue and white two-piece..."

McCarthy: "Too skinny. Need to put some meat on those bones..."

Cassie: "Or, she could do it your way and pump herself full of silicone..."

McCarthy: "You LITTLE..."

O'Dell: "...Aaaaannnddd, that's 'Stray Heart' by Green Day, and here comes 'The Houston Solution', Leven Rambin..."

McCarthy: "Who's also too skinny. And has zero talent like the rest of Weirdo's fighters, save Torv and Sobieski. I'd say she'd be the next one he fires, but that's going to be Graham, yet ANOTHER disappointing flyweight..."

O'Dell: "Rambin into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that bubblegum pink bikini Tess hates. And it's time for some picks. Tess favors Leven. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Two cue-tips. Who cares? But, I'll go with Woodley..."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "Gotta go with my girl Shailene!"

O'Dell: "Let's find out who's right. Both girls out quickly behind the left jab. Seeing very similar styles here, which is no surprise, as we have two very similar fighters, tall bantams with a lot of reach who like to box at range..."

Cassie: "Both have solid jabs. Those aren't powder puff punches. They hit with impact, and with the length these two have, an impactful jab can set up a lot of things."

O'Dell: "Indeed it can, and both lefts are doing that right now. We're seeing some good exchanges, both girls putting punches together in flurries that are getting longer as the round goes on. Both girls staying solid defensively, but both getting plenty of leather home..."

Tess: "Good shot by Shailene and a HARD counter by Leven!"

O'Dell: "And the crowd getting into it as both fighters buzzsawing at one another, punch after punch flying, neither woman willing to cover up or back up so it's one salvo after another! Crowd on its feet as we head into the final seconds, leather flying, neither fighter slowing and a BLISTERING exchange at the bell!"

Cassie: "And they exchange a look and smile at one another, kind of saying, 'Wow, THAT was fun!"

O'Dell: "It was also effective. Both girls scoring plenty. Woodley's round, though, so Shailene off to the early lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Second begins with more movement from both fighters. Both still want to work the jab and box at range, but you're seeing both of the rangy bantams now moving the feet, showing some angles..."

McCarthy: "Both got a talking to in their respective corners between rounds. Inexperienced girls can sometimes get too aggressive and I think both did that last round."

O'Dell: "A little less aggression in this stanza for sure, but plenty of action, as both fighters use the left jab to set up hard right hands. Both working to get to their spots and getting off in combination when they do so. Rambin showing a bit more power than Woodley in this round..."

Tess: "Seems to be, Jenny. She isn't hurting Shailene, but she's making her cover up on occasion."

O'Dell: "Woodley scoring plenty, though. She's got a very accurate straight right hand tonight and she's been able to find spots for it. Rambin lands a HARD right and Shailene covers up again. Leven goes body, something neither girl has done much of, and Woodley responds with a nice combination at the bell. Close. Rambin."

Cassie: "All even at 19 after two."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Third begins with the pattern set, both fighters want ranged warfare. Botrh want to use their length, extend on their punches, boxing and parry. And both showing plenty of ability to do it..."

Cassie: "No doubt they both have the tools to be good boxers. What they need is experience. When they get that, the rest will come."

O'Dell: "Good right hand by Woodley and RAMBIN ROCKS HER WITH A COUNTER! A whistling right from behind the ear and Shailene is staggered! Leven forward now, backing Woodley up. Shailene working hard to turn and stay off the ropes..."

McCarthy: "Look at Rambin widening her punches...using a sweeping motion to herd Woodley in front of her..."

O'Dell: "Keeping her brunette square and backing her up, getting her trapped nicely on the ropes and having at her. Shailene tying, covering, looking to run clock here..."

Tess: "She's keeping her guard in place, jabbing back in spots. This is good stuff from a girl with so little experience. No panic..."

O'Dell: "None at all, and Shailene able to buy herself enough time to firm up and begin firing back at the bell. Rambin's round wide, but Woodley survives a scary spot."

Tess: "But Leven now leads 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Fourth begins and we're back to boxing. Woodley appears fully recovered, moving well, getting the left hand home and following with good, accurate rights. Rambin responding in kind and we're seeing some nice exchanges..."

Cassie: "Both girls getting in rhythm, getting things put together. Start with the left, set up the punches, keep the head, shoulders, and feet moving. This is good stuff on both sides."

O'Dell: "A lot of nice, clean punches getting home. Good combinations being exchanged. Both fighters showing solid defense, too, blocking and dodging well. As Cassie said, plenty of movement from both fighters..."

Tess: "And you have to like how Woodley's responded to getting shaken last round. She's not been tentative, not tried to do too much. She's right back to the plan."

O'Dell: "And the plans working well on both sides. Both fighters able to execute what they want. Both able to score on terms they like. Not much in it, frankly, as we head into the final secconds. It's good, two-way stuff from bell to bell. Very close. Woodley."

McCarthy: "Which evens the fight at 38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "We're back to boxing in the fifth. Rambin a bit more aggressive this round. Looking to up the volume, she's tossing Shailene onto the defensive more, making Woodley fight counter..."

McCarthy: "This is usually a good thing to do to an inexperienced fighter. Learning to counter punch well comes with experience."

O'Dell: "Woodley getting backed up a little now. Leven not crowding, not working forward, but stepping in as Shailene backs up. Good left hook from Rambin. AND A BIG RIGHT HAND COUNTER FROM WOODLEY! Shailene a SIZZLING counter punch and Rambin in steppin' in fence post holes!"

Cassie: "Shailene needs to get after her right now!"

O'Dell: "And that's exactly what she's doing. Woodley not exactly all in, but she's pushing plenty of chips into the middle of the table. She's driving forward, making Leven give ground, hooking the body, then working back upstairs. Rambin staying off the ropes, trying to fight back, but now it's the Front Streeter on the defensive, covering up as Woodley sends in gobs of leather. Down to 30 seconds left in this one. Shailene a CRACKING right hand and she wobbles Leven again! Woodley now looking for the finisher. Winging away as the final seconds elapse. BELL! Rambin lasts it out, but Woodley grabs it wide..."

Tess: "And leads 48-47 at the halfway point."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth begins with Woodley on the offensive. She's after Rambin, who's still looking a bit unsteady after the last round. Leven giving ground, snapping out a jab, wants to create distance. Shailene stalking, showing patience..."

McCarthy: "And, as I've said before, that's something that's usually in short supply for inexperienced fighters..."

O'Dell: "Good point, Mac, but Shailene definitely taking her time. She's not pressing, just applying steady heat. Rambin working well in counter. Seems to be getting the legs back as we go, putting punches together now, landing a SOLID right hand and THERE'S A BOOMING RIGHT FROM SHAILENE! Rambin wobbled, LEFT HOOK AND DOWN GOES LEVEN!"

Cassie: "GREAT punch by Shailene and a super follow!"

O'Dell: "Count at three. Four. Five..."

McCarthy: "Rambin's Front Street career may be seconds from ending..."

O'Dell: "Six. Seven. Leven on her back, unmoving. Eight. Nine. TEN!"

Cassie: "YES!"

Tess: "Woodley jumping for joy, running over to her corner and leaping into the arms of Lis Rohm!"

O'Dell: "Your winner by KO6, breaking her maiden, is Shailene Woodley!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Shailene Woodley, and Shailene, had to feel good to get your first win..."

Shailene(smiling): "Couldn't have felt better. The bantam division at Bazz is just LOADED. Spiridakos, Michalka and Wilde! Those girls are pretty hard to live up to, you know? I needed to get on the board..."

Tess: "And you did it in a big way..."

Shailene: "I worked really hard, Tess. At Bazz, it's not easy. Nothing's easy. We work as hard as any stable and harder than most. About once a week, I dream of flattening that hill with a bulldozer! But, that work paid off, and it feels great!"
