BEFORE: Since Miranda Kerr has made a permanent trip to America and assumed control of the famed Ice Hotel, the BBU bantamweight title picture is wide open again and Jessica Schwarz thinks she's best placed to be selected for the vacated throne duell against the hard punching Leah Dizon. However she's signed a contract to fight Natalia Mendoza few weeks ago already and can't back out of tonight's contest which potentially serves as the dress rehearsal before the title match-up.
Both women have some lightweight strenght in them and Charlie Webster expects a highlight KO any which way but also indicates this could well be Jessica's last opportunity to receive a title shot as the German actress turns 40 next month and is reportedly considering retirement before the year is over.
Natalie Mendoza wears a black one piece swimsuit and red gloves. Jessica Schwarz wears a red basque top, black knickers and golden gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.
Round 1:
Mendoza's been around BBU long enough to realize she's can't allow Schwarz to run her game from the start and that's exactly what she tries to prevent by lashing out at the German actress seconds into the fight and thumping heavy punches between the high guard. Jessica's surprised by this aggressive stance briefly but settles into a punching galore to hoof Natalie's guard clear and drive a couple of jabs on the cheeks herself. Mendoza sticks to her plan though and tries to bully Schwarz around; she leans on the German and adds more intensity to her efforts, snaps the head backwards a couple of times and dekes away from a point black range hooking response, she wobbles Schwarz back towards the ropes down the stretch and keeps swinging around the head to make Jessica think better of it and remain in retreat until the bell.
Round 2:
More aggression from Natalie who splits the German's mitts and smacks her cheeks in full flow before reeling her back in wake of that barrage; Jessica works the single hand drill but lacks the intensity and loses out in a midring tangle whereas Mendoza refuses to drop the high stalking and maintains her approach to send the German seeking respite in the second half of the fight. It's all Natalie thereafter again but she isn't so successful in the mid range anymore as Schwarz's guard withstands the looping efforts and allows the former champion to escape further punishment.
Round 3:
Jessica remains a bit lethargic again while Natalie doesn't show her any respect and tries to dismantle the high guard without looking back; she squares up to the German and pummels through on the mouth, snaps Jessica's head back before finally getting whacked by a proper punch as the older actress throws a one-two combo from the back foot to prevent getting shut out in close range. Schwarz adds another nifty combo to smack Mendoza's head to the side and sinks into her chest afterwards; pummels through to center of the ring and starts wading in heavy shots while scowling in anger; it's obvious she's had enough of Natalie doing all the work and the English actress endures a couple of rough hooks on the mouth before circling away into safety. Swing & miss display follows but Jessica seems happy enough to stop her rival's charge and gives her a really long look after the bell.
Round 4:
Natalie's unmoved over that previous round antics and chases the German down again before throwing a series on the head; the one dimensional style of attack earns her no success this time as Jessica's experienced enough to have it covered and dekes away to the side; she responds with a jabbing series on the ribcage and closes right up to the English babe, meances around her liver area but moves up for some uppercut test on the chest that wobbles Natalie and makes her groan in anger rather than pain. She keeps sending overhands on the head but lacks precision and allows Schwarz to pile on the pressure at the midsection which reels the English actress back to the ropes in the final minute and Jessica scoring sharp jabs against the ribcage to keep her opponent pinned in lacklustre fashion for remainder of the round.
Round 5:
Natalie slows her approach down but on the contrary Jessica ups the ante herself and lashes out at the younger actress to snap her head back with a looping overhand before adding an uppercut on the rack again. Mendoza's agility gets exposed badly as she struggles to break free and is forced to accept more close range brawling where the German proves to be at her best and spikes the ribcage to sink Natalie on her knees and shove her butt-in-ropes down the stretch. Mendoza finally digs some leather into Jessica's ribs herself but is pummelled back to the turnbuckle as the former champ unloads heavy artillery and leans on the aching English vixen; almost tries to chop her in half bruising the ribcage in a spirited fashion and as Natalie's arms drop to provide full protection of the wounded area, a quick switch up high snaps her head back repeatedly in the closing seconds to leave the English woman sagging and gasping for air at the bell.
Round 6:
Natalie starts to feel the heat of the battle and comes slowly out for the sixth however she just can't escape some drilling German leather smacking her on the ribs and staggering in the middle of the ring. Jessica almost holds back the deciding punch after rocking her foe back & forth with accurate assault on the body and Mendoza's sluggish response only grazes the flesh; a looping hook crashes into the brow ridge and wobbles Mendoza back onto the ropes but Schwarz takes the calm approach and allows her to escape.. or at least try to escape as Natalie trips over her own feet and wraps herself around the ropes in order to stay upright... Schwarz works the destruction mode and thumps the exposed face with a quick one-two and even though Natalie's head slumps between her shoulders, the German still prefers to maul some Asian rack and leave the fellow brunette moaning loudly at the bell almost crashing down to her knees and looking very hittable at this stage with almost zero resistance in her...
Round 7:
Jessica decides to quit the mauling procedure and stalks her opponent with raw power this time; Natalie avoids an early hooking approach but then gets caught with a left hander on the brow ridge and drops her arms allowing Schwarz to blast a right cross on the nose which finally removes the last ounce of resistance out of the fellow brunette... MENDOZA GOES DOWN ON HER BACK... those jelly legs couldn't resist the ammount of German leather dissecting the Asian-English flesh anymore... it's a slow rise for Natalie who takes a pause at six and scampers back to her feet at nine nodding back to the ref... After a brief check she's send back into Jessica's path who zips past the leaking guard and nails Mendoza on the brow ridge before adds a right cross on the nose again to shut the eyes and dump the Englishwoman sagging onto the ropes again... Schwarz goes for the kill and dismantles the guard in numbers as Mendoza's arms are rendered numb and drop by her side... Several punches now crash off her face and rock the head back & forth with Jessica looking keen to nuke her out of the orbit as the KO Club audience supports their top bantamweight to get the job done... Mendoza gets handed a proper neck crank and leans against the turnbuckle almost sobbing in disarray AND THE REF HAS TO STOP THIS SLAUGTER... he hauls the German off her prey leaving a banged up Mendoza to crash to her knees and jack knife on her face moments later... TKO7 Jessica Schwarz!!!
AFTER: That was a trademark Schwarz finish in the end but she has developed an annoying habit of allowing her opponents to run their game in the early stages lately and if she thinks of winning that bantamweight title for the third time she'd need to change that attitude since Leah Dizon is regarded as the biggest puncher in the division well capable of handing the German a proper wake up call. And Jessica's at this stage of her career she has to explore all her options available first time of asking since she's turning 40 next month already. There's every chance Leah Dizon sends her down the retirement path if this title bout materialises in the near future and everyone careful enough to realize that will be scratching their heads over the betting odds.
Charlie Webster believes that Alesha Dixon would like to send Schwarz into retirement herself but with the singer now active on the US market it doesn't look like she's gonna have a chance to step in the queue before Dizon. However there's a general support of another Schwarz/Dixon clash for the ages to perhaps finally wrap up the BBU's greatest rivalry in the organization's five year existence!
