SEMI-FINAL FIGHT #2

BEFORE: The Caesars Palace still tries to regain it's breath after the upset result in the first semi-final when Megan Gale and Gemma Atkinson are introduced into the ring looking quite shocked themselves. It's safe to say neither of them expected Sarah Lancaster to make it this far but suddenly a golden opportunity presents itself on a plate and both Megan and Gemma believe it's the premature final right here and right now.

Beating Lancaster in a fortnight's time seems almost too default to embrace common sense but still, the odds on Gale winning the whole thing have rocketed sky high as soon as Paula Patton whimpered her submission! Will the pressure get to the Aussie model though? She dispatched Katharine McPhee in lightning quick fashion but remains a great mystery after the four year break despite her Floydian training base. Atkinson's been the more active of the two in the past few years and that's always a tricky factor no matter how high the opposition is rated. Plus she looked pretty sharp in knocking out Michelle Ryan too!

Megan Gale wears a silver bikini set with a gree trim and yellow gloves. Gemma Atkinson wears a black bikini with white & red trim and red gloves. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Gale makes an early charge and shows supreme confidence in attacking the blonde's rack like anyone with half a brain would behave when facing the English girl. Gemma tries to brawl with the Aussie brunette but lacks power to push her off the close range dominance and eats piercing jabs in numbers which send her into retreat down the stretch. Megan seeks perfection in that rack assault but has to acknowledge some resistance and actual skill from the blonde as Gemma cracks a desperate hook up high and tags the mouth before riffling a follow up just a hairline wide of the temple. Still Megan sticks to the body attack and pummels the blonde into the corner come the final minute and sinks Atkinson with a hook to the navel to underline her superior betting odds.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Megan's mitts are glued to the English rack and send Atkinson into a desperate escape. The Aussie menace prevents any success in that approach though and starts really hurting Gemma as early as this to the point the blonde scowls in anger already after her own efforts are woefully bouncing off the forearms and make the brunette smile back at her with little sympathy. Gale tries to take Atkinson to the school of boxing, slows the assault down and ducks underneath a wide and sluggish response before belting the ribcage and rocking the blonde on her heels; another dismal ending to the round has Atkinson trapped butt-in-ropes and clinching for survival.

Round 3:
It's almost too easy for the Aussie model who fakes another jug assault and cracks a series up high instead rocking Gemma's head to the side. The Floydian girl just keeps the pressure on but switches her targets and seems to enjoy the head hunting whereas Atkinson is close to tripping over her own feet in desperate avoidance circles. The response is almost non-existent as Atkinson continues to be overwhelmed by the opportunity and one has to really wonder if the Floydian label got into her head long before the fight and did more damage than any of Megan's punches tonight. Gale seems to realize that too and allows herself a more flamboyant display in the closing minute, drops her arms invitingly low but Atkinson prefers to throw single punches rather than mount any comeback and looks relieved her boobs avoided more mauling in this round. Megan hardly breaks sweat and pulls away 30-27 in effortless fashion!

Round 4:
Will Gemma ever wake up here? She almost stumbles out of her stool but forces Megan to chase her down and eventually manages to avoid the onslaught as the brunette got a little too eager and too careless in approach. A switch on the body slaps the forearms and Gemma bumps Megan off in close range for a change before drilling a straight jab into her opponent's face and rocking her with a sudden left/right combo on the temples. Gale looks more shocked by the response rather than hurt and tries to immediately put the hammer down again however she eats a left jab around the elbows and wobbles forward with the blonde eyeing a liver area punishment and pushing the older girl back to the corner. Megan fends off a late charge with a series of jabs from the back foot but for once Atkinson didn't look so out of depth here.

Round 5:
Gale restores the strictly business attitude and thumps Atkinson's jugs briefly before getting laced over the top as the English girl gets all vocal and jumps at the otherwise dominant brunette and smacks her lips in full swing before digging the leather into her guts. Megan wobbles back on her heels and has no time to mount a rally on her own; she gets plastered across the mouth again and Gemma catches a second wind bashing away in furious fashion and shoving the Aussie back to the ropes. Megan dekes to the side and tries to squash the blonde's footwork with some fancy steps however she walks into a heavy right overhand and sags on the turnbuckle instead; Gemma pins her in the corner pressing her boobs against the Australian flesh and shuts Gale off while thumping her ribcage in vicious fashion for remainder of the round.

Round 6:
Megan looks really puzzled at half-distance as she kinda left the blonde off the hook instead of just flat out wrecking her anytime during the opening three rounds. Gemma displays the wounded animal attitude and goes all-in again to work the brunette's guts over and as good as Megan looked punishing her boobs earlier she just fails to escape getting pressed backwards and Atkinson soaks up the internal pain to lash out at the older woman and it's a frantic exchange in the center of the ring for most part of the sixth with Gemma slicing Megan's lips into visible swelling but getting rocked on the cleavage again and yelping out in pain come the final minute. Megan leans on the blonde thereafter and pounds her butt-in-ropes to halt the English momentum however she runs out of time to really hurt Atkinson who looks more concerned about a potential wardrobe malfunction and adjusts her bikini top after the bell.

Round 7:
Gale tries to ignite some extra pace into her movements but is left hanging in mid-distance as Atkinson switches into defensive mode to start the seventh and messes up her rival's rhythm leaving Megan scowling in anger for the first time tonight. Indeed Gale struggles to enforce the close range jug assault again and almost trips over in a fruitless chase as Gemma's antics meet subdued response from the crowd at first but then it's all changed when the blonde riffles a series of jabs from the back foot and starts to hassle a tiring brunette in the second half of the round. Megan looks a bit uneasy physically all of the sudden and her punches are visibly slower in execution but more importantly she fails to slice the high guard and gets bumped off in jug-to-jug contact with Gemma sending uppercuts and shattering the gloves herself in the final minute... Whooping assault snaps Megan's head and sinks her on soft knees before Atkinson thumps a classic JMD-like double combo from each side to squeeze Gale's breasts inside her silver bikini... an anguished squeal from the brunette is followed by a clubbing hook on the eye and GALE GOES ALL TIMBER moments later tumbling to her side much to the crowd's utter disbelief... Gale rises to all fours eventually but has a hard time beating the count at eight... still short of breath she's send back into the blonde's path and Gemma rocks some Aussie boobs and buries the brunette against the turnbuckle to work uppercuts until the bell and leave Megan gasping for air and hugging her mounds.

Round 8:
The knockdown has really taken the wind out of Megan's sails and Gemma stalks her with a series of piercing jabs; she snaps the brunette's head back repeatedly in the opening minute and adds more swelling on the lips as Megan simply tries to weather the storm but doesn't have much in the tank left and gets pounded back to the ropes down the stretch. Atkinson's breasts swing back & forth due to the blonde's supreme efforts while Gale sinks deep on her knees and come the final minute she bellows out in a desperate earmuff cover. The moaning also gets inreasingly louder which only fuels the blonde's intensity as she shatters the ribcage in the dying seconds to make the Australian model scream in pain and hug her bruised midsection at the bell. Bell-to-bell beating hands Atkinson a huge advantage and she's long made up the early deficit according to most of the Caesars Palace audience.

Round 9:
Gale is really hurting now while Atkinson keeps headhunting her seeking a swift finish; the brunette's gloves drop by her waist after a riffling series smacks her on the mouth and while the eyes close too, there's just no way Megan even notices the right hand piledriver that nails her on the nasal ridge AND SENDS TUMBLING ON HER SIDE thirty six seconds into the round... Gale goes deadmeat and doesn't even have the strenght to roll herself on the back as the ref spares her the count and lifts the blonde's arm in quick motion... Another upset in Las Vegas is complete! KO9 Gemma Atkinson!!!

AFTER: Gale remains wrecked on the canvas and she was simply mauled into this departure by a signifcantly more durable opponent. Hardly anyone expected Atkinson to withstand the early barrage as she was regarded as one of the more hittable welters around but the Revival opportunity surely improved her stakes and while her victory over Michelle Ryan was somewhat unexpected, nothing beats the size of this upset triumph over one of the Floydian based girls. However Gale just lacked physical strenght tonight and looked to be out of shape since the fifth round already. That's a valuable clue to indicate a return after four years of absence isn't destined to become a walk in the park regardless of the betting odds.

"I knew she'd try to punch my tits off!", Gemma says while still dwelling on the crowd's support, "They all think they can hurt me there but it's not that easy! I've prepared really good for this one and won't allow the experts have a last laugh. I realize most of them had me down in 8th place but look here now! I'm in the frickin' final and well, Sarah Lancaster seems like another girl living on borrowed time! I will take all the tips from Karen Gillan who so nearly mauled her into exhaustion back in Round One. And there's no way I'm gonna be the underdog anymore! When you beat a Floydian welter you realize how impressive that is! I hope the Tractorpull Magazine is ready with that cover photoshoot since I'm really making the BBU and the whole of England proud now!"

The Order Of Merit round match-ups are locked now; Jodi Lyn O'Keefe and Katharine McPhee will fight to avoid the wooden spoon trophy, Karen Gillan takes on Michelle Ryan for the 5th place and the much anticipated final will actually happen in the 3rd place contest between Paula Patton and Megan Gale who both will need some serious recovery to make that one a real classic. But the all important Revival final will feature Sarah Lancaster and Gemma Atkinson and that's one of the least predictable pairings which despite the blonde's comments must be regarded as a coin-toss affair.
