WILLA HOLLAND VS ALY MICHALKA
(FOXFIRE BOXING VS BAZZ FIGHT CLUB)
Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Before: “I know I’m the underdog here,” Willa Holland said modestly to the pre-fight press, “but as good as Aly is, I think I am now ready for her. Stopping Sasha Pieterse was very encouraging to me. I haven’t had too much luck against other CW girls—I lost to Alexa Vega and Emily Rickards, but I have beaten Lyndsy Fonseca and Lindsey Morgan. That win over Sasha convinced me I could fight Alyson and win.”

“It’s always great to be fighting a CW girl,”said Aly M. “ I’m guest starring on ‘iZombie’ so I more than happy that Willa wants to fight me. Honestly, I think she’s deluded herself. Beating that mouthy blonde bimbo Pieterse is no big deal, but she will learn that the hard way.”

“Hey,” Willa calls out cheerfully, “I may be wrong about being able to beat you, but I’m glad to hear we agree on Sasha Pieterse.”

(In the audience, a blonde in red hoodie and dark glasses scowls darkly and is heard to mutter: “I hope you both lose!”)

The night of the fight finds Willa in a dark green bikini with matching gloves and boots. Hair hanging loose. Aly Michalka in a red bikini with red gloves and boots. Long, brunette Hair pulled back into a long ponytail. Fighters calm, but ready to go during instructions, once the bell rings they are out of their corners quickly.

R1: Rapid-fire punching gets the crowd excited early-on as Willa and Alyson seek to control the opening round. Willa backing Aly up with some quick shots to the sternum and follow-up hooks off Alyson’s chin. However Aly shows good circling skills as she strikes back at Willa’s head with repeated quick jabs. Willa starts to grow protective of her head, so Aly finds plenty of room for her punches by working over Willa’s midsection with some slings into her ribs for spice. Willa increasingly on the defensive. Aly not pressing too hard but she’s keeping the pressure on with steady smacks against Willa’s sweaty flesh. Finishes up with another flurry aimed at Willa’s chin. Willa jabbing and trying to block, but takes a good one at the bell that leaves her standing with a fazed look on her face. Referee gently points the Foxfire fighter to her corner as Aly Michalka smiles knowing she has taken the opening round.

R2: Willa’s quickly revived by her corner people and by the time the bell rings for R2, she is more than ready. Willa just heads straight for Aly and starts punching. Aggressiveness seems to take Aly by surprise and she gets her head banged around several times before she backpedals out of there. Willa not about to let her quarry get away, hangs close and mixes in some chest pounding punches to try to loosen the Bazz fighter’s guard. Aly gets her chin lifted by a solid Willa uppercut, but she recovers by her jab to finally slow Willa down. Aly over onto the attack in the final minute, but Willa’s head and upper body movement taking the steam out Aly’s punching and she takes some hooks to the belly just before the bell that clearly stun her. Willa Holland takes the second round.

R3: Alyson looking a little woozy at the start of the round, gloves up around her face and she hunched over defensively. Willa happy to maintain the pressure and working over Aly’s midsection nearly the entire round. Aly taking a lot of leather trying to make sure Willa can’t get at her head and her jabbing is inconsistently. Willa taking some leather, but she’s dishing out a lot more punishment than she’s receiving and wins the round wide.

R4: Now it is Willa Holland’s turn to be surprised by an opponent she thought she had mastered. Aly Michalka sucks it up during the break and greets Willa with smashing right to the jaw that sends the Foxfire fighter spinning. Willa in trouble in the opening minute as Aly is swarming over her with wild, smashing punches to the side of the head and belly. Willa manages to scramble away and get her jab going when Aly finally catches up to her. Willa landing well to Aly’s face and body, slows the Bazz fighter down, but Aly starts circling again and driving straight rights and lefts into gaps in Willa’s defenses. Willa feeling these blows, but she grimly fights back to make the round close, but Aly wins it.

R5: Face showing bruises and swellings, Willa ignores these injuries to charge right at Aly as this round opens. Aly and Willa exchange some lightning strike lefts and rights to the head and face. Both fall back for a moment, but return to the battle the next moment. The crescendo of punches has the crowd cheering them up. Aly takes a one-two combination to the chin that staggers her, but Willa gets a straight right to the mouth when she tries to follow-up. Willa shakes this off and goes back to attacking Aly’s belly. Aly forced back and her counterpunching slows as Willa tries to get her pinned to the ropes. Alyson manages to slip away from the strands, but she can’t keep Willa from taking the round wide.

R6: No slowing of the action as Willa and Aly fire away at mid ring. At first, Willa is able to continue her pressure punching, adding Aly’s chest to her body attack. Aly not liking this, but keep cool behind her jab, trying to make it more effective. She finally seems to be able to time Willa’s head movements and adjust her jabbing accordingly. Willa suddenly getting hit in the face with repeated jabs, but she counters with jabs of her own. Girls are toe to toe late in the round and Aly is repeatedly getting to Willa’s chin with uppercuts. Willa starts to slow down, but time runs out before Alyson can take her down. Shootout round goes to Alyson M, but it was close.

R7: Willa making a great effort to shake off the effects of Alyson’s chin shots late in the last round. She bangs her gloves together at the bell and comes in swinging. Alyson coolly lets Willa unleash a blockbuster right, but then ducks under it and pops back with a right uppercut to the chin. WILLA HOLLAND GOES DOWN. Willa struck hard under the chin has her legs fold up and her green bikini bottoms smack into the canvas. Willa leans forward on her knees, gloves flat on the canvas, panting as she tries to remember where she is. Referee is counting and Willa lets it go to 9 before she stands. Referee seems a little too quick to wave Alyson back in as Willa is slow to even get her gloves to chest level before Aly is upon her with smashing straight rights and lefts. Willa reeling back to the ropes with Aly firing away as Willa slides desperately along the strands. Willa’s arms fall to her sides and her head is getting knocked around like a bobble-head doll. Ringsiders are screaming foe the referee to stop this! AND THE REF JUMPS IN! Official thrust himself between the fighters, letting Willa collapse into his arms. Alyson steps back with a look a grim satisfaction as the fight is ended.
The Winner: Alyson Michalka TKO7

After: “The referee never should have allowed that fight to continue after the knockdown,” Aly tells the press, “Anyone could see Holland was in no condition to go on. I’m just glad she wasn’t seriously hurt. That said, I was very pleased with this fight, Willa gave me some problems, but I overcame them and won the fight. I feel am ready to move towards a title shot now.”

Willa Holland doesn’t speak to the press until the next day, but she insists: “I wanted to go on, I was just not ready for how face she came back at me. That was a lapse on my part and it cost me the fight. I think I demonstrated I could fight on par with her, but she’s not someone you can afford to make any mistakes with. I’m aching, but I’ll heal and be a better fighter next time.”

Pretty good fight while it lasted. Alyson did seem to be challenged by Willa Holland at times, but the experience factor may have allowed her to hang on and ultimately win the bout. The only way a young fighter like Willa Holland can get experience is to be willing to take losses, learn from then and come back all the wiser. Meanwhile, Aly can look forward to fighting for a title shot.
