AMY ACKER VS DIANA AGRON

(Words: Anon / Results: Lookout)

"If she's smart, she won't even show up to this one," stated Dianna Agron simply, obviously not thinking much of her upcoming opponent Amy Acker. "She doesn't bother stepping into the ring for years and wants to make a career when she's pushing forty? Look, she'll quit on her stool before the halfway mark, pretend this never happened, and make no retirement announcement, but trust me, she's done."

"Dianna's exactly what I want in an opponent," said Amy Acker in her statement to the press pre-fight. "She's a young, energetic ass kicker with the potential to go far, and I think getting beaten senseless in this match might motivate her to pursue the training she needs to make it in the league," she added, straight faced.

Dianna Agron entered the ring in black trunks and bra, looking cheerful and waving to the fans. She waited patiently in her corner for Amy Acker's entrance wearing green trunks and bra, and though a few meaningful stares were exchanged, the pre-fight ran its course without any issues.

Round 1:

Acker began the round making conservative attacks on her opponent, showing the skills that had allowed her to rack up a three fight streak. Struggling during the opening, Agron managed to turn things around as the round progressed, pushing Acker back several times, and slugging her in the stomach hard enough that the first few rows heard the impact towards the finish, putting the pretty brunette in the position of needing a comeback.

Round 2:

With a setback in the first round, Acker came into the second still confident and willing to go on offense. This time, it paid off -- an early stumble by Agron allowed Acker to sneak a solid right hand through the blonde's defenses, and the brunette seemed to anticipate her opponent's responses more effectively, as if the few minutes of practice had helped her out.

Round 3:

As if angered by her defeat in the previous round, a scowling Agron left her corner in the third looking determined to take the fight to her rival. While Acker countered effectively, making Agron's life as difficult as possible with the odd hit, the blonde managed to do her one better, wearing the brunette down one punch at a time. Acker left the third round worse for wear, sitting on her stool during the break and staring straight ahead.

Round 4:

Eager to continue grinding her opponent down, Agron quickly took the fight to her opponen in the fourth. Acker continued to perform well under pressure, but was still consistently coming up short. Each time Agron managed to land a hit unpunished, Acker seemed to grow more nervous -- there was the possibility that this was the blow that pushed her beyond the point of recovery and ended the fight. Still, despite another defeat, Acker ended the round flushed but upright, responsive and talkative during the break.

Round 5:

While she had certainly fared poorly so far, Acker seemed just as dangerous halfway through the match as she had at the start. Countering and responding to Agron effectively at every turn, she seemed to have figured her opponent out. Agron, meanwhile, risking a solid fist to the face every time she made a move, seemed to alternate between misplays and an overly defensive strategy.

Round 6:

Behind on points but ahead on momentum, Acker came out swinging in the sixth round. Staying on offense, she managed to cast Agron in the role of the competent but struggling underdog, reversing their positions from the earlier rounds. However, as the round drew to a close, Acker did her one better, backing her up into the corner and attempting to finish the fight before the blonde could mount a comeback. Agron, stuck between the barrier and her gleeful opponent's fists, bounce back and forth as the brunette pummeled her. Eventually, she pushed free, escaping and weakly countering until time ran out.

Round 7:

After failing to put Agron on the canvas in the sixth round, Acker left her corner obviously intending to correct this oversight. An early feint and follow up put Acker's fist solidly on Agron's jaw, causing the younger blonde to misstep and land on her butt, gloved hands on the canvas as she frowned in frustration. Acker's smirk at seeing her opponent fall was probably only visible from the distance of ringside, but when her opponent immediately rose and the referee resumed the fight, the brunette returned to her usual businesslike demeanor. Taking control of the fight, she pummeled Agron until she was on the ropes. The blonde covered up before deciding to fight her way out, but after a few ineffective swings Acker was freely striking Agron's face. The referee, having seen enough, stepped in -- TKO7 Acker.

While the result was made official, Acker made her victory lap around the ring, smiling and raising a fist to the delight of her fans. She made no attempt to taunt Agron further, even given the heated statements before the fight. Agron, allowed to peacefully sulk in her corner, did nothing to disturb the status quo.

"I don't really want to take back any of the compliments I gave her -- she did just fine, and she'll be as good as new after a few days with some ice," commented Acker, surrounded by the press in the chaos after the fight. "But it's definitely back to the gym for this one if she wants to stick around the FCBA."
