Christina Ricci versus Leighton Meester

Odds & Ends Studio vs Front Street Gym
Words: Odds and Ends / Results: Lookout!

Before: Leighton knocking on the top 25 again, looking to leapfrog Kristen Stewart to become Front Street’s flagship fly.  “The Wiz finally decided to get serious about flyweight, which is why he brought me in.  That means you start with the low-hanging fruit and Christina’s just the sort of has-been that makes a great tune-up for me, and a wake-up for the rest of the division!”

“She’s a stepping stone.  A sure-thing I can use to get back in the bracket I deserve to be in.”  Ricci more than willing to put her dismissal of the Meester threat on full display.  “It’ll be good to get back into the elite where I belong!”

Ricci in purple bandeau and frilly bottoms, chin-length hair back in a battle bun.  Leighton in tan bandeau bikini; brown hair in low pony with long bangs bracketing her face; small black gloves all around.

R1:    Surprising aggression early from Leighton as she seeks to impose will on Front Street’s nemesis.  Chrissy stands her ground, greets Meester with robust bursts of bashing lefts and rights. Leighton bludgeoned about her head and shoulders, forcing her to crouch forward, Chrissy immediately working up underneath with digging uppercuts, cramming away tummy & tits until Meester’s forced to break off. Leighton circles, curves back on in: meets with the same enthusiastic response as Chrissy’s happy to churn away. Meester’s plan of attack is bold, but counterproductive: she’s banged up in exchanges, repulsed, eventually walked down as Ricci assumes control late and comes forward punching.

R2:   Spirited two way fighting as Chrissy punches straight left&rights while scooting forward, trying to get back on top of Leighton. Meester sidestepping, countering beautifully: punching well off either foot, from any angle. Leighton lifting the left jab off her hip - fading back after scoring, baiting Chrissy forward then looking to jab and pivot away from receipts. All even till Meester separates herself late: Vicious left uppercut off a feint picks Ricci up out of her crouch; Leighton capitalizes with a buggywhip right hand in above Chrissy's left hip, followed by a digging left uppercut to sternum. Hup-hup body work has Ricci cringing at bell, hugging her sturdy ribcage: PONYLASH! Meester wheels on her heel, drawing that soft dark ponytail across Chrissy's outraged eyes.

R3:   Leighton issues a whipping. Meester jabbing head and body midring - sidestepping left; short-shrugging palm-down hooks to jug as Ricci can’t get out of the center of the circle. Halfway point, girls trading dangerous rights and lefts.  Leighton beating Chrissy to the punches, ringing mitts off chin and sending Ricci reeling backward to ropes. Pounding of Ricci’s Rack begins: Leighton storming the gates, chugging away hup-hup-hup - rising lefts and rights in close just bunching up the meat on poor Christina! Ricci howling, miserable, trying to cover herself up, but she's too badly weakened: Meester able to reach in under Chrissy’s arms, chest her helpless into ropes, wrestle apart the guard, then renew the onslaught over & over to the bell.

R4:     Identical round to the first: Leighton flowing right up the middle on Chrissy only to sustain unacceptable punishment from a furious-punching Ricci buzzsaw. Tight, compact swings and pokes as Chrissy’s happy to keep it stubby, rejecting her foe time and again. As Leighton tires, Ricci comes forward with straight, jamming punches on approach, then picking her up with uppercuts in close. Meester's scoring as well, but clearly out punched: her bid to bang-with has erased her advantage, brings us back to a tie after 4.

R5:   Incredible pressure from Chrissy, Leighton bundled up & stuffed onto ropes, smothered, bumped, & bullied. Ricci in there with her shoulders; butting her head against Meester's chest, DIGGING at Leighton's ribs: ferocious, plugging series - elbows drawn back behind as left/rights alternate home, plowing at her prey’s slender ribcage. Meester battered along the ropes, offering no offense: all she can do is tie up, get a ref's break, then scamper away until Ricci hurtles into her again. Rowdy shove-n'-slug shutout for Chrissy, fighting off Leighton's chest, never letting her breathe.

R6:   Chrissy hurtling forward: she's showing terrific aggression, surging past Leighton's jab. Meester backpedaling, sidestepping, trying to keep Ricci on the end of her poke. Near the minute mark Chrissy strokes a wide left hook to Leighton's chin as Meester's attempting to circle to her right, her legs give a shimmy, stiffening up on her. Leighton goes to earmuff to regroup: Chrissy licks a withering straight arm left hook flush to the solar plexus: Meester stoops forward, WELL smote to body. Right hand takes Leighton in her left side ribs; another bashes home to ribs as Chrissy steps into her punches, grunting on compact delivery. Meester loosening, tottering to her right: Ricci baring teeth, pounds in a THIRD smoking right hand to ribs, finally bringing Leighton's left elbow down to protect. Right uppercut clips Meester to chin; swinging right overhand claps Leighton to jaw, Chrissy bending in and getting off lusty. Meester's lithe body stiffens up - legs straight as she twists to her right, pitches face down to canvas and… HAT TRICK! KO6 in upset fashion - Christina Ricci!

After: Christina climbing ropes, roaring out into crowd: furious, bludgeoning performance dashes hopes of yet another Front Street flyweight revival as tune-up turns into nightmare for Meester.  Sometimes a fighter just turns out to be poison for a stable, and for whatever reason, Ricci is the Wiz’s Kryptonite!
