BEFORE: The Wonder Woman in-waiting, Gal Gadot, leads the Lookout! Atlantic Boxing support cast in Cannes tonight as she targets local favorite Malika Menard as the biggest trophy in her relatively short BBU career thus far. The brunette actress split a pair of fights versus the Lioness Club's Christine Bleakley and Karolina Kurkova last year and Denise van Outen believes that Menard is actually even better than Kurkova so this is a really bold call from the LAB entourage.
It's even bolder when you consider the local support and all the BBU fans on this side of the channel think that Menard is in fact their best fighter right now, topping the talents of Lea Seydoux and the semi-retired but vastly experienced Virginie Ledoyen. There's also talk that another FCBA veteran Laetitia Casta works behind the curtains on making Menard the best divisional fighter around and if she can dismantle Gadot tonight, then those title prospects will look very good again for the former Miss France! With the Bastille Day PPV less than a month away, the French vixens are ready to roar again and dominate the summer news pages whether you like it or not!
Gal Gadot wears a red corset top with golden trim and white gloves. Dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Malika Menard wears a navy blue one-piece swimsuit and black gloves. Brown hair loose. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1:
Malika leaps off her stool and begins to stalk the actress down with ferocious jabbing but Gal weathers the early storm in mid distance before looping overhand response and smacking the pageant winning face. Malika doesn't back off from her charge though despite taking a couple of big hits and slams into Gadot's face too as both women jumps into a trigger happy approach without showing much care about the defence. Gal wobbles back on her heels down the stretch and loses the heated exchange while Malika just pounds along and land a really vicious hook on the ear just after the two minute mark which sends the actress onto the ropes with a quiet whimper. More head shots from the local favorite and she pins Gal to the ropes for good, reverts on her midsection briefly and blocks a desperate jabbing effort before driving a couple of uppercuts on the breasts to run away with the round.
Round 2:
Malika really wants that title shot and pounds away at the actress to split her mitts seconds into the next round and snap the ponytail around with more efficiency than even Denise van Outen expected. Gal has to think of an escape route but remains trapped in close range until Menard whips her spinning into the ropes where she ignores the high guard and settles into cleaning out some Wonder Woman abs. Gal punches back from behind the guard but only grazes the pageant's face and eats more jabs on the breasts down the stretch; has to cover up in earmuff and spends the remainder of the round ducking and weaving under the heavy onslaught as the crowd roars in full Menard support!
Round 3:
Gadot tries to ignite some pace into her stride and does well to avoid Menard's attacks in the opening minute but becomes too eratic with her counter shots and loses her balance after swinging just short of the temples; Malika doesn't need a second invitation and cracks a huge hook on the ear to make the actress yelp one more time before driving more uppercuts on the rack which stun Gal in the middle of the ring. A heavy left hand underlines the French girl's title aspirations AND SHE DECKS GADOT DOWN ON THE SPOT with another tremendous shot to the ear. Gal looks totally shocked by the sheer punching power of her rival and shrugs her head in utmost surprise. She learns that Malika does indeed punch even harder than Karolina Kurkova and learns it the ugly way. She's up at seven but has to retreat in numbers now as the local favorite hassles her down into the corner in the dying seconds and resumes the tummy assault to leave one sore looking Wonder Woman at the bell.
Round 4:
Gal refuses to back away this time and tries to catch Malika unawares and does exceptionally well to slam a left/right combo into her face early on but then gets whacked on the ribs with a low response and remains stranded in the middle of the ring a fraction too long so Menard can blast a vicious hook straight up the middle and find the older brunette's solar plexus. Gadot winces in pain and trembles forward which is lethal as she gets pounded once again by another uppercut AND DOWN SHE GOES AGAIN... Malika works the heavy drill here and sends a brave but lacklustre opponent on her back with another furious shot... Cue in some Gal credit; she shows incredible resistance by fending off another knockdown at six but looks to be losing her belief in topping the French beauty and is exposed badly on her feet when Malika pounds her back to the corner and slams more jabs around the elbows to sink the actress really low on her knees; Gadot survives the round aching badly and shakes her head again as Malika begins to tease her with classic French vocabulary. We don't need to translate that though!
Round 5:
"Le Grande Malika'" banners wave all over the audience and Malika is on the run early in the six as Gadot tries to somehow enforce the mid distance tangle but is spooked around instead and falls into another overhand barrage once the pageant winner succeeds in her pursuit. We're back to the mindless leather trade-off and Menard's head begins to snap around more often than expected as Gal screams out in her efforts to get something on the board and she for once doesn't yield the real estate and in fact pummels through to give the local brunette a fat lip in the proccess. Malika's precision begins to desert her and she looks stunned when Gadot clips her on the temple and follows through with a heavy shot on the nose to wobble the younger girl onto the ropes and secure her best round to date. Malika gives her a really evil look after the bell and perhaps this one isn't exactly over just yet!
Round 6:
Malika's furious over that fat lip Gal gave her in the previous round and comes out swinging; she pierces the Israeli's guard and snaps the ponytail around before digging more leather on the rack. Gadot seems very uneasy with the JMD-like assault and leans forward with a loud gasp; eats a quick hook on the liver and bends even more awkwardly to the side... Menard buries the right hand in her ribs and that really puts Gal in trouble as she trips back to the ropes with a crying yelp and remains pinned there afterwards when the pageant slams furious leather to dismantle the high guard and give the actress a taste of her own fat lip misery. She moves onto the temples too and pummels Gal back & forth, the older brunette in serious trouble again, but still sways upright until Malika digs into her breadbasket and whips her against her shoulder. Gadot applies the clinch but is blasted all over her stomach and at the bell she still eats a couple of hooks as the ref was slow to cut the French rampage short.
Round 7:
Gal indicates she's got a cracked rib in there somewhere and is really slow off her stool as the local brunette pounces on her and triggers immediate midriff assault to complete the Wonder Woman's demise... she drills the liver area so that Gal lets her guard down on the other side and slams another hook on the ear moments later to shut the girl's eyes and send her tripping over into the ropes. Gadot's chin slumps between her shoulder and Menard crashes in with a flurry of jabs that the Israeli knows nothing about anymore... SHE GOES DOWN HEAVILY ON HER RIGHT SIDE and remains unresponsive to the count... Whirlwind KO7 Malika Menard!!!
AFTER: Ugh! That was not what the LAB crew wanted to see as one of their most promising members just got hammered into a pulp! Gal Gadot survived some of the most brutal shots ever seen in BBU but couldn't hang on for any longer and Malika Menard might have just entered the #1 contender status unless Karolina Kurkova or Helena Mattsson put on an even better show next! It's been a while since Menard was so high up on the divisional list despite being touted as a huge talent since day one she arrived in BBU but there's literally nothing in the way now! You don't beat Gal Gadot up like that without being THIS good. Even Denise van Outen is impressed and she rarely gives any foreign brunettes any benefit of the doubt: "Well, it's a shame Christine Bleakley couldn't suffer such a terrible demise which left Gal demolished tonight. Before Malika gets her title chance I'd like to see her duke it out with that Irish tart first!"
But whatever van Outen wants doesn't matter right now as Malika poses with her foot planted on the fallen Gadot's hip and shouts more French vocabulary which will undoubtfully make it's way into the Foxfire Atlantic news service really soon! She has no intentions to leave the arena and sits down in the VIP lounge to witness the upcoming two fights in person and she's got every right to think even the likes of Doutzen Kroes and Alaina Huffman are no better than her (despite few results from the past telling a different story). "Le Grande Malika" is back and the whole lightweight division should put her on notice right away!
Final result: Malika Menard def. Gal Gadot KO7.
