(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

After a solid freshman campaign, Pieterse in a sophomore slump, having dropped all three 2015 outings, and she's determined to break out of it. "Yes, I've had some growing pains," the blonde beauty says with a smile, "But, I've learned some things this year, and I'm going to put that to use in beating Allison."

Scagliotti once of the best kept secrets at flyweight, a girl with eight fights and victories over former champs like Carter and Cyrus and comers like Scerbo and Hale. The redhead's looking like making a move in 2015, and sounding like it, too. "Sasha's just a step for me," she says with a smile. "I have big plans, and Pieterse is just a girl I plan to step over, both figuratively and literally."

ROUND ONE:

Things get hot and heavy right away as Scagliotti, as usual, wants to get in tight and bang. Pieterse, who usually prefers to box in space, decides to punch for respect right away and the hot tossing commences. It's crowd-pleasing stuff, with both fighters stepping into punches and throwing at high, flyweight volume. It's good, two-way action until Scagliotti wobbles Sasha's knees with a short right hook. Things get ugly for the blonde quickly after that, with the redhead thumping her back into the ropes and pummeling her viciously. Sasha's clearly just hanging on and the referee is looking in close. Just when it looks as if this thing is going to end in the first round, Pieterse firms a bit and begins countering. She lasts out the round, but it's Scagliotti wide in the first, giving the redhead the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Pieterse has learned her lesson. She's not getting inside with Scagliotti if she can help it. The blonde has a bit of reach and she's now determined to use it. She gets the left jab on target, slowing the redhead as she tries to close. She gets a good counter-clockwise rotation going, not a bouncing, circling thing, but more of the classic sliding turn. Scagliotti's able to get past Sasha's pickets, of course, and, when she does, she gets work done inside, but Pieterse keeps these exchanges short, tying her rival up, shoving her off, doing whatever she can to create the space she wants to box. Scagliotti remains aggressive, but she's now less effective as Sasha slows the pace, sets up her right hands, and gets the better of the scoring to even things at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Allison senses Sasha getting in rhythm and she doesn't want that. The redhead is determined to shake things up, so she gets more aggressive. She's no longer working past Pieterse's jab, she's walking through it and quickly letting the hands go when she gets inside. Sasha counters by tying up, forcing breaks, making Allison take as she walks forward again. About two minutes in, Pieterse's strategy pays off. She catches Scagliotti clean with a right hand as Allison walks forward. The redhead wobbles and nearly drops to her knees. And the blonde is immediately all in. Sasha's firing bombs from every direction as a hurt Scagliotti retreats to the ropes and takes the kind of beating she handed out in the first. Sasha's teeth are bared, her ponytail flying, shoulders twisting as she gets everything she has into punch after punch. Scagliotti's in desperate trouble, but the legs hold her up and she's able to do just enough to keep the referee at bay. When the bell rings, however, Allison's a scuffed beauty and Sasha has a 29-28 lead.

ROUND FOUR:

Pieterse aims to consolidate and/or finish. The blonde's coming forward behind the left now, backing up a still buzzed Allison, looking for the "off" switch. Scagliotti slick, however, fighting back in counter, landing clean shots, slowing down Sasha's offensive, bogging it down, and, finally, stopping it all together. And, then beginning to reverse it. The redhead's getting to her spots and finding the ranges she likes, as Pieterse's gotten away from boxing and, once again, gotten down into the trenches with her opponent. Sasha holds her own, but this is Allison's game and Scagliotti simply plays it better. By late in the round, Sasha's being forced back, taking punches in combination, fighting to hold canvas, and failing to do so. At the bell, Allison's in control, and, having claimed the fourth, back even with the blonde at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Allison upping the pressure, looking to crowd Sasha, exchange with her, bang out points to both head and body. Pieterse wants to get back to movement, but Scagliotti making that difficult now, cutting the ring, bringing Sasha to battle and getting the better of exchanges. Pieterse being forced back, cornered. But, like a cornered animal, the blonde beauty strikes viciously with a three-punch combination that backs up the redhead and a follow on right hand that ROCKS her! That quickly, Allison's steppin' in fence post holes and Sasha comes snarling out of the corner to drive the redhead before her, hammering away with both hands, trapping Scagliotti on the ropes and giving her a beating reminiscent of the third round. Pieterse getting everything into these punches and clearly wondering what's holding Scagliotti up as the redhead wobbles again and again but manages to stay on her feet to the bell. Allison looking as scuffed as a ten year old pair of Nikes as she stumbles back to her corner, down 48-47 at the half.

ROUND SIX:

Again, Sasha wants to consolidate/finish, and, again, it's the wrong strategy against the wrong fighter, and her corner knows it. They're in her ear telling her to move, to jab, to box, but the blonde isn't having any. She wants Scagliotti on the canvas, and she plays right into the redhead's hands to get her there. Sasha works forward aggressively, and Allison plays spider to fly. She gives ground and counters, just like she did in the fourth, slowly chipping away at Pieterse's advance with well-placed fire, slowing it, stopping it, and creating the trench warfare in which Allison thrives. By mid-round, Scagliotti's fighting lead, backing up Pieterse, working her body, landing stinging rights to the head, getting the better of every exchange despite the game blonde's efforts. The final minute sees several excellent punches from Allison that snap Sasha's head back and sent sweat flying. The blonde shakes them off, but, at the bell, Allison's evened the fight at 57 and completely destroyed Pieterse's momentum for a second time.

ROUND SEVEN:

Allison pressuring, but with a bit more circumspection this time. Sasha's punched for respect and gotten it, so Scagliotti works forward, bobbing the head, moving the feet, picking off jabs with her gloves, cutting the ring expertly, and bringing the blonde to battle. Again, Sasha wants to move, but can't find the space to do it, as the redhead always seems to be in the right spot to prevent her from escaping to open canvas. Pieterse begins clinching and shoving off to create breaks and more potential openings to slip away. But, during one such clinch, Scagliotti shoulders the blonde off and ROCKS her with a right uppercut. Pieterse wobbles, takes a step backward, and is DROPPED with a perfectly-timed left hook! The blonde beauty crashes to her back and seems finished, but she's not. At the count of seven, she's on her knees, and, by nine, she's back on her feet, if unsteadily so. The referee seems to hesitate after the mandatory, but he waives Allison forward, and Scagliotti needs no further invitation. Allison goes all in to finish her wounded prey, trapping her against the ropes and raining bombs on her with both hands from every conceivable angle. Sasha hangs on in a high guard, putting her body on sale, but Scagliotti isn't buying, instead concentrating all her resources upstairs, sending Pieterse's legs to quaking again and again with heavy shell. In the closing seconds a right hand splits the gloves and Sasha's legs turn to jelly. She somehow stays on her feet, but it's all too much! The referee has seen enough and he bundles a tearful Sasha to safety, making your winner by TKO7, Allison Scagliotti!

AFTER:

Scagliotti showing the younger woman some respect in the post-fight comments. "She hits harder than I thought," the redhead says with a smile. "I got a little sloppy in there and she caught me a couple of times. But, I knew I was too strong and too tough for her. Sooner or later, I was going to get some leather home, and, when I did that, I knew she'd crumble. Give her credit, she lasted longer than I thought, but she ended up crying in her corner just like I said she would."
