Jenna-Louise Coleman vs. Natalie Portman(Las Vegas)
(Words: Front Street / Results: Lookout!)

BEFORE:

"I know she doesn't respect me," says a seething Jenna-Louise. "To her, I'm just a girl who's won some fights in some lower-level federation. Well, she's about to find out today that the girls in the BBU are every bit as good as the ones in the FCBA, and that Jenna-Louise Coleman is more than 'just as good' as Natalie Portman. She's better."

"She's got me all wrong," says Natalie with a shake of the head. "I know she's good. You don't win as many fights as she has without being good. And I have plenty of respect for the BBU and the girls in it. But. There aren't any  girls in the BBU as good as Natalie Portman. And, that's not a knock on the BBU. Because there aren't any girls in the FCBA as good as Natalie Portman, either. The Pax Portmanica is alive, well, and about to be extended across the Atlantic."

ROUND ONE:

Classic "feeling out" round sees athletic Coleman in motion, making with the jab and circle, using those great feet to force Natalie to stalk. Portman willing to do that, soundly and carefully as always. She's an observer most of the time, watching as Coleman moves, teasing out jabs  and follows from her, looking to get down timing and geometry, probing for weaknesses in the Brit's defenses. The Blackpool Beauty, however, not showing many cracks to the former FCBA Champion. She's quick. Perhaps quicker than Natalie expected. She gets her jabs on target, scoring with them repeatedly. And, everything about her is smooth. As the round goes on, Portman, who's mostly been taking, gets more active, angling to bring Coleman to battle and scoring with solid flurries. But, at the bell, it's Jenna-Louise's round and 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:

Nat's done all the reconnoiter she needs to do, and, now, it's time to begin the attack. And, just like that, Coleman's no longer able to work in open canvas. Natalie simply cuts her off with perfect footwork, squares her up, and begins landing in combination. Coleman fires back on Portman's terms, but, the problem is, these are Portman's terms, and there's no percentage in fighting Natalie on them. Jenna-Louise holds her own fairly well, mind. She scores with both hands. She doesn't allow Natalie to take control. But, Portman is Portman, and you are not going to be able to box her at distances she wants and come out on top. She's too slick, too talented. She gets the angles she wants, she gets the leather where she wants it, and she outscores Jenna-Louise to even the fight at 19.

ROUND THREE:

Natalie gets rolling in a big way. She's found what she wants to do, and gets to doing it. She's angling beautifully, cutting off Coleman's movement and lining her up perfectly. Jenna-Louise being pre-empted. Natalie's always getting off first, forcing the Brit to cover up, maybe land a counter, and then cover up again as another strafing by Portman ensues. Coleman getting frustrated. Not getting anything done. Portman ducking, slipping, dipping, and doing a great job of getting her mitts on target. It's pretty stuff, unless, of course, you're on the receiving end of it. Time and again, Jenna-Louise tries to get off the defensive, but she simply can't get it done. Natalie has everything clicking perfectly, and she's in complete control from the first second to the last, grabbing the round and the lead, 29-28.

ROUND FOUR:

Coleman gets moving early. Portman calmly stalks, cutting her rival off creating the distance and angles she wants. But, Jenna-Louise has seen enough of this play. She ties Portman up, shoves her off, gets some space, and gets back to the circle and jab routine. Again and again, the same scene is played out. Natalie cuts the Brit off and there's a brief exchange. Coleman ties up, muscles with Portman, gets her own back to the center of the ring, and is right back to a war of movement in space. It's excellent tactical stuff on both sides, and, while the fighters do some scoring and land some clean stuff, there's not a lot of damage done and majority of the three minutes sees the fighters working to get into positions to punch. The low-scoring affair goes to Coleman, narrowly, and Jenna-Louise evens the bout at 38.

ROUND FIVE:

Portman determined not to allow the clutch and shove game Coleman played in the fourth. She works the feet, cuts Jenna-Louise off, and, when Coleman tries to clinch, she keeps punching, working hard to free herself and keep the exchanges going. It works very well and Natalie's quickly back in control of the fight. Coleman can't get space or find time to do much more than counter. Of course, sometimes one counter is all it takes if that counter is good enough. And a BLISTERING right hand from Coleman that lands about 1:45 in is PLENTY good enough. It rocks Portman, who takes several steps backward and covers up. Jenna-Louise needs no further invitation and goes to work in a big way, getting off lusty against a buzzed Nat, backing her to the ropes, and pummeling her for the remainder of the round. Portman's still on her feet when it's over, but Coleman's claimed the fifth wide and leads 48-47.

ROUND SIX:

Coleman getting quickly back to work. She's coming forward on Natalie now, forcing Portman to give ground, sitting down on her punches, looking to take the former champ out of here. Portman retreats. Inviting Coleman forward. Spider. Fly. BOOM! A perfectly-timed right that Coleman walks into and everything changes. Jenna-Louise steppin' in fence post holes and Natalie all in on the Brit! All the gains of the previous round quickly lost as now it's Coleman taking heavy fire from Natalie. Portman battering Jenna-Louise back into the ropes and giving her a good working over to both head and body. Portman looking for the "off" switch Natalie style, smooth and slick, setting everything up perfectly, and getting home hard right after hard right. Referee looking in closely down the stretch. Coleman shaken again and again, but the legs pass their tests, the bell rings, and Jenna-Louise is still upright. Portman, however, has grabbed the round wide and evened things at 57.

ROUND SEVEN:

Jenna-Louise clearly doesn't have her legs back, and that's an open invitation for Natalie to take control. With her opponent unable to use movement to create the spacing she wants, Natalie gets her terms and goes to work giving Coleman a boxing lesson. It's all about angles, movement, feints, slips, and one punch setting up the next. Again, the British beauty is reduced to countering when she can, because Natalie's fighting lead and using suppressive fire. And, again, it's one counter, a beautiful right hand that wobbles Portman and nearly sits her down. It's not the same punch as the one in the fifth, but it has the same result. Portman is hurt and Jenna-Louise, balky legs and all, takes full advantage, thumping Portman, who spends the rest of the round covering up and trying to stay off the ropes. Coleman's looking for the finisher, and she doesn't find it, but she wins the round wide and goes back on the lead, 67-66.

ROUND EIGHT:

Coleman more retrospect. Either she's learned from the mistake of the sixth or the wear and tear has slowed her down, or, more likely, a combination of the two. But, whatever the reason, Jenna-Louise not going all in to finish. Instead, she's working her jab, backing up a still-buzzed Natalie with good right hands, but being ever so careful of the solid counters coming back from Portman, who remains on the defensive. Coleman getting more comfortable as the round goes on, in rhythm, putting punches together. She's got Natalie on her back foot and is determined to keep her there. And then Portman's not on her back foot anymore. She's just on her BACK. A right hand snaps back Portman's head and a follow-on left hook sends her crashing to the mat. The crowd goes nuts as the ref begins to count, a glassy eyed Natalie staring up at him. Portman tries to sit up, but slumps back to the canvas and stays there long past the count of ten. It's over. And your winner by KO8 is Jenna-Louise Coleman!

AFTER:

It's a huge moment for Jenna-Louise Coleman and she responds accordingly as she responds accordingly, as does the rest of the BBU contingent as she tosses her gloves down to the canvas and pumps her fist up into the air. Grinning confidently as she pumps one of her fists up into the air and then both as the crowd gives a chant for “J-L-C” as Coleman directs the chants, just blowing kisses to the pro-British members in the crowd in between chants before she spins around to see Natalie Portman being brought up onto her stool.

Almost positively bouncing over to a dazed Natalie as she looks up from her stool as Jenna reaches down, gripping her hair as she yanks her upwards and slams her backwards into the turnbuckles. Jenna licking her lips with excitement as she grips one hand in Natalie's hair as Portman gazes up at her foe's tummy, horrified. To punctuate the moment, Jenna reaches down to pat her tummy as suddenly, the theme from “Doctor Who” suddenly blares over the sound system. There must be a Whovian here in the Las Vegas sound team tonight as the crowd whoops in delight and Jenna's eyes flash with excitement. Natalie wrinkles her nose in disgust, but whether that's at the music being played or the impending tummy, it's not clear.

However, we don't really get to find out as Jenna-Louise just lowers down her tummy, winding her hands deeply into Natalie's dark tresses as she tugs upwards. Holding her foe's head in place as she just glides her abs back and forth, slowly scrubbing her abs in back and forth to give Natalie the full tummy treatment. Abs glistening from the bout as they push firmly up into Portman's face and pushes it to the side, seeing the despair etched on Portman's features as Jenna then guides her rival's face back to disappear under dominating abs once more. Jenna is just glorying in the moment, clearly enjoying Natalie's heartbreak here as she feels Natalie push and protest against her tummy, then circling around Coleman's taut waist in frustration. Jenna keeps sliding her abs forward, moving in as she listens to Natalie's muffled squeals and grunts, surfing her tummy back and forth before hopping off of her foe. Flexing her tummy and forearms in a little bicep pose as Jenna-Louise blows her the furious Portman a kiss before strutting over to the media among the cheers from the crowd, though a vocal pro-Portman majority rains down boos on the British star.

Jenna-Louise addresses the press as she has a haughty smirk playing across her lips, hands on her hips as she shows off a bit for the American media, who appear to be delighting in her accent as she purrs out, “Natalie, for all of her talk about Pax Portmanica extending across both sides of the Atlantic, failed to understand that she was facing the absolute BEST of the BBU when it comes to the flyweight division. I'm the freaking flyweight champion and so, it's my job to showcase British power! As much as I respect her, I bet Natalie wishes she had a TARDIS now so she could go back in time and not underestimate me now, huh?” as Jenna winks and then heads out of the ring, just high-fiving fans and celebrating a big win here in the States!
